Hans Kupelwieser
 
Born in Vienna in 1948, Kupelwieser completed his training at
the Institute for Applied Arts in Vienna (1976-82 at Tasquil,
Brock und Weibel) between extensive travel and whilst also
working as a graphic artist.

In the 80’s he belonged to the most individual and admired
experimental sculptors and represented Austria at the 1987
Europalia in Brussels.

His photographic work has equal standing with and in relation to
his sculpting, which transgresses between material, object,
image and space. In particular, his large-format photograms of
furniture can be seen photographically as well as sculptural.

The theme of positive and negative, prototype, image and
copy trails through the complete works of Kupelwieser.
